Name: Avara Hawksong
Nickname: n/a
Species: Hylian with a bit of Gerudo blood.
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Physical Description: Unlike the rest of her family, Avara's Gerudo blood shows. Her skin is a shade or two darker than the average Hylian's and tans very easily. Her hair is a thick, red-gold mass that goes down to midback. The only ways she has found to contain it are by either keeping it in a ponytail at the top of her head, or in a tight braid. Her build is quite average, with height about the same as an average male Hylian, and a slender, lightly muscled frame. Her face however, does not follow the typical Gerudo pattern. Where their noses are long and sharp, hers is small and delicate, and slightly upturned at the end. She has thin lips, that are naturally a very dark shade of pink, contrasting with her olive toned skin. Though her eyes are the classic Gerudo gold, they are not as large and slanted. They are smaller, and they have a strange intensity that is somewhat reminiscent of a bird of prey.
When not 'working' Avara wears very loose, dark brown pants, made of a coarse, thick muslin, very similar in style to the Gerudo's. They are held up at the waist by a cord belt made of pieces of braided leather. A matching cord is used to restrain her hair. She wears a top made of fine cotton, a harsh white color, that is also very loose. It is quite plain, the looseness ending only at cuffs on the sleeves. It has a simple, elegant neckline, that is quite modest considering Gerudo tastes. Over the white shirt, she wears an ornate purple vest. It is very tight around the middle, and seems to be made in the style of a corset. It is embroidered with silver thread, in many intricate patterns. She also has a small piece of very finely woven purple silk that she can use to hide her face.
When she is on the job, Avara will wear whatever she needs to blend in. From the filthy tatters of the homeless to the fine gowns of the nobles, and everything in between, you name it, she's probably tried it at least once. The only thing that never changes is her shoes. She had the pair custom made out of a soft, light brown leather. They come up just a bit higher than her ankles, and while they are quiet enough that they allow her to creep through any noble's house unnoticed, they also allow her enough support so that she can do all the other things that may be required of her.
Background: Avara was born to a family of normal Hylians, living in Kakariko City. Well, the family was normal until she was born. In response to her very Gerudo-like looks, her grandfather revealed that her father was half-Gerudo. Of course, this made no difference to him, as he still looked normal, and the blood hadn't shown up in any of her siblings, but it had shown up in Avera, and who can argue with fate? Avara didn't just look like a Gerudo, no, the blood was most evident in her childhood case of kleptomania. She would steal anything, from food out of the pantry, to the dog's collar. Of course, her tastes later became much more refined, and she began stealing things for their monetary value. Her parents criticized her, her siblings told her to "head back to Gerudo Fortress where you came from" and her neighbors wouldn't even look at her.
When she was 12, Avara decided to head to the Gerudo Fortress she had heard so much about. She snuck out of the house late at night, taking her father's life savings with her. She knew she would never go back. She made her way to the Gerudo Fortress, and although she was certainly not welcomed with open arms, she was able to slowly earn their respect. At the age of 14, Avara realized that Gerudo Fortress was not the right place for her. They were too close to being on the right side of the law.
So, when the next group set out to visit their Terminian sisters, Avara went with them. She got there with no excitement, and went through the same process again. Get in, earn their respect, and get trained. She found exactly what she wanted in the Master Thief Sebari, who was willing to teach her. Sebari taught Avara everything she knew, from thievery to assassination to mercenary work. She taught her how to fight with daggers, the different kinds of poison, and everything else a good crook would need to know.
When Avara was 22, after eight years of training with one of the most talented thieves ever born, she thought she was ready. She headed back to Hyrule to make a name for herself. She spent a year and a half there, stealing and killing, listening to rumours in taverns. Slowly, she was becoming a bit of a legend, the thief who couldn't be caught, who could get in any building or any safe, no matter how secure. This was exactly what she wanted.
Only one guard had ever gotten a glimpse of her, and it was just that, a glimpse. The wanted poster that had come from it had been terribly innacurate, showing her as a leering, hook-nosed, pureblood Gerudo. She had laughed when she saw it and after that, it became her calling card. Whereever she went, whatever she stole, the poster would be there after. She pinned it on the doors of the houses she robbed, slipped pieces of it into the empty purses of the victims of her pickpocketing, you name it, she had done it.
One day, however, things changed. She was in a back alley of Hyrule Castle Town, leaning back in a three legged chair, her feet propped up on a nearby barrel, when a woman clad only in vines appeared at the entrance to the alley and walked up to her. Her first thought was "Oh geeze, a prostitute! What does she want?" Her second was "How did she get those vines to stay up like that?" And then it hit her. A wave of power that completely overwhelmed her senses. For a moment she sat there in shock, and then her third thought came- "That's no prostitute."
And then she spoke. It was a gentle voice, like a sweet tolling of bells, or a young woman seeing, but underneath the soft tones, Avara could almost hear the power that had so shocked her before. And what she said was this. "Avara, you are chosen."
Avara sat up a little in her chair. "Chosen?" she said cautiously "Chosen for what?"
"You are to be one of those who helps to preserve the lands. You shall fight, in the Battle Arena, as my Chosen. The other Great Fairies have Chosen their own as well."
Avara had heard of the Battle Arena, everyone had. The posters where everywhere. However, she was not quite sure exactly what it was. "What is this... this Battle Arena? And why of all people, have you chosen me?"
The Fairy smiled gently. "The Battle Arena is a competition. The 'Arena' is the whole of the two worlds. You shall compete with other fighters that were Chosen. And fight you shall. Yes, if you have any hope of coming out successfully you shall have to fight. As to why I chose you... well, what is it you want most in the world?"
Avara resisted the temptation to say something snotty, like 'to be a god' or 'world domination'. She got the feeling that messing with the Great Fairy would not be a good idea. Instead, she thought carefully, and then responded. "I suppose that what I want most... is to be remembered. I want to be the subject of legends as beloved as those of Link and Princess Zelda."
"That, little one, is why you were chosen. This tournament will help you achieve that goal, but only with a lot of skill, and a lot of luck. There is not much else I can do to help. There is just one thing."
The fairy stepped forward and placed a finger on Avara's forehead. It was soft, and smooth, and unnaturally cool. Avara barely stopped herself from flinching. She hated it when people touched her. A vision slowly formed in her mind. It was a lady, obviously Gerudo, obviously powerful. Judging by her looks, she had control over the powers of fire and ice.
"This is Twinrova, a Gerudo of long ago. She was powerful, but evil. Once a day, when you are in mortal danger, you may take her form. Beware, it will be hard, and it will exhaust you, so only do it if you must..."
The Fairy's voice slowly faded out. Avara opened her eyes, and she was gone.
Weapon(s): Avara has over ten daggers hidden all over her. (baggy clothing is good for something!) She has everything from a dagger as long as her thigh, in a sheath underneath her pants, to a tiny knife the size of her pinky hidden in her hair. She also has a few packets of poison in hidden pockets on the inside of her vest.
Magic: none
Item(s): none
Bossform: Twinrova
Respawn Points: In front of the Gerudo Fortress in Hyrule, and in her room at the Pirate Fortress in Termina.
Strengths: Lots of training, stealth, speed, intelligent, believable liar
Weaknesses: Only weapon is daggers, more used to sneaking around than actual combat, no tact, very judgemental, has no morales, not very strong. She has an aversion to killing people, though that doesn't mean she won't if she has to.
Themesong: I don't have one yet. I'm looking, okay?
