Background:
Kain was born an only child in Kakariko to a relatively decent father and mother. His mother died of disease barely after he was born because of her delicate health and delivering him so Belle, a prostitute that his father trusts, raised as a surrogate mother. Belle loved him like any mother would despite her occupation so she did her best to raise him until he was 8 then his father took over to teach him. His father was a tough man that did odd jobs, but he was a good father that taught his son essential skills to survive in Hyrule, especially when Ganondorf took over threatening to kill everyone. His father passed on his ethic code, his passion for gambling and women, and how to fist fight to his son. As a teen he took what his father taught him in Kakariko getting into fights, taking odd jobs, and gambling getting good practice lying and negotiating as well. During this time he adopted the last name Wayfarer because his father never used his last name.
When he was 18 he worked with his father until he died in a building accident saving Kain’s life. Kain blamed himself for his father’s death while living with Belle getting over the grief until after the Imprisoning War vowing never to have anything to do with building again. He left Belle’s to wander around Hyrule trying to make his own way with a job that didn’t involve building, the only place he found that paid enough was at Lon Lon Ranch. While he was there he decided to learn how to ride horses so he did during his free time, and he also discovered his talent with a bow by defending the ranch from thieves and monsters. He quit the job at 20 taking his wages to Kakariko to gamble. He eventually won big and after a few fights he saw how dangerous a short knife was in close quarters, fascinated he stole one from a man that tried to kill him with it. He walked to town with his winnings to Hyrule Castle Town buying a tough bow and paid a blacksmith to fix his stolen knife to look brand new.
He practiced at the Shooting Gallery becoming so good that they banned him because they think he cheats somehow. During the reformation of Hyrule he felt so bold with his skills that he went to Gerudo Valley where he paid the Gerudos handsomely to teach him how to master using the bow and riding a horse. He returned occasionally after successful gambling to challenging the best of the Gerudo at horseback archery beating a few. He befriended the mare Ako while on a trip there so he started riding her with the owner’s permission; he liked Ako so much he challenged the owner to a horseback archery match tricking her into betting Ako. He barely won Ako and escape with his life using his knife with his scar to prove it.
With what was left of his gambling winnings to make his own way in Hyrule by doing what his dad did but on a grander scale. He’ll do bounty hunts, only to capture alive, or almost any odd job for anyone that pays enough from the royal family to shadowy individuals excluding only those that challenge his ethics and building things. It takes him a lot of time to fully trust them but has made a few close friends but he tries to keep the close friends to a minimum to have a smaller chance of betrayal or less people a person could use in case someone tries to get to him through them. He knows a few acquaintances from all walks of life by doing jobs for them. He continues this lifestyle to this day.
Strengths: master archer, excellent horseman, skilled at fist and knife fighting, negotiating, athletic, skilled in all forms of gambling
Weaknesses: attractive women, his pride, magic, his love for gambling, fighting fair (he fights dirty), not very serious
Theme song: None
